How wonderful it is to be able to work from home. I've been busy designing a project for our TopStitchers Club. It's a pin cushion and thread catcher all in one. The project features delicate machine appliqued spring flowers on a classic, machine quilted, hanging diamond background. The thread catcher is large enough to hold clippings from an entire quilt top.
How do I know this? Those clippings are from my As the Spool Turns quilt top. Below is a picture of the fabric strips stitched together.
This next picture shows my spools complete. After laying out the colourful spools in the order I liked, I ironed little freezer paper squares, in numerical order, in the centre of the spools. This helped me to keep the spools in their proper position while stitching the quilt top together.
Here's a picture of a portion of the top.
The centre of the top is all pieced. Now I'm starting on the borders. Sew much fun!!
Following are pictures of "Notions of Spring".
Happy Sewing.
